Alright folks, where do I even start with this one?! You know by now I’m a massive movie fan, and as a kid, Ghostbusters was one of the big ones. Maybe not quite the obsession my brother had, but let’s just say that theme tune still gets me buzzing.

When I moved into my new studio (which I may have completely decked out to look like the Ghostbusters firehouse, yes, really), I knew I had to create something properly Ghostbusters-themed to bless the place. I mean, how could you have a space like that and not have some GB magic on the walls?

Enter: Vigo the Carpathian.

Yep, that Vigo. The bad guy that scared the life out of us all in Ghostbusters II.
"On a mountain of skulls, in the castle of pain, I sat on a throne of blood!" — I mean, come on, that’s peak 80s movie villainy right there.

The lads from Ghostbusters Ireland and Ghostbusters Northern Ireland popped round the studio, and while we were chatting, they threw out the idea of creating a replica portrait of Vigo. And you know what? They were spot on. I ran with it.

I wanted to keep the Ghostbusters spirit strong, so I threw in a bright, graffiti-style backdrop and went all in on a massive, real-life torso portrait of Vigo himself. The mix of the gritty street art vibe with the dark, serious energy of Vigo just works. Honestly, it came out even better than I pictured in my head.

He’s still got that eerie look that gave me the heebie-jeebies as a kid, but this time there’s a modern twist, a proper tribute to one of the greatest movies of the 80s (well, according to my brother anyway… he’s still quoting it 30 years later).

The finished piece, titled ‘Ghostbusters Vigo’, is a beast, 150cm x 150cm of pure Carpathian drama. 💪🏼

The original has now found a new home at the brilliant Bellevue Arms in Belfast, but don’t worry folks, prints are available!

Available as:

👉🏼 50cm x 50cm Square Prints   *SHOP HERE*

Printed on premium Hahnemühle 290gsm German Etching paper. This stuff is unreal. Soft, velvety feel, gorgeous texture, and the colours pop off the surface. Honestly, it gives the artwork this amazing depth and richness. And of course, each print is signed by yours truly.

Rolled prints are shipped first class in tough postal tubes, or you can choose free pick-up from the studio if you’re local.

Framing?

Drop me a message, I can sort you out.

Honestly, this was an absolute blast to create, and if you’re a Ghostbusters fan like me (or just appreciate a bit of 80s cinematic greatness), you’re gonna love having this one up on your wall.

Thanks for the support as always folks, and remember, Vigo doesn’t scare us anymore, well maybe after the video below he does! 😉
